about me Michael Carr

I am a Philadelphia based Painter. I have shown at Philadelphia's esteemed The More Gallery. Other exhibitions include The Sande Webster Gallery, Philadelphia Sketch Club, The State Museum of Pennsylvania, Gallery Ciano and The Micro Museum Brooklyn.

My work has been included in many private collections.

I am currently working on a Graphic Novel.

Deep contemplation of color creates an emotional effect that can be described as a mystical or spiritual experience upon the viewer.

My paintings use monochromatic vivid color and a deliberate linear/geometrical composition that align with the phosphorescent.

Within the hidden duality of the phosphorescent medium, the paintings seem to become supernaturally charged.

Nature, its elements, music, surfing, dreams, the subconscious and the occult, all influence me.

I strive to move beyond mere abstraction and into a Zen-like and sensual realm; intending to express a universal human drama.

Above all, I attempt to convey emotions such as joy, tranquility, longing, and regret.
